How far do halo-lit letters stand off the wall?

The ideal stand-off distance depends on the letter depth, wall surface, viewing distance, and desired glow intensity. Halo-lit letters are typically installed using concealed studs with spacers to create room for the light to reflect behind the sign.

Most common spacing ranges:

- 0.5″ (12–15 mm) – Best for smaller letters, narrow strokes, or subtle premium glow. Recommended for indoor lobbies, reception walls, and close-view signage.

- 0.75″ (18–20 mm) – Most popular option for balanced glow and clean readability. Works well for storefronts, offices, and medium-size exterior signs.

- 1″ (25 mm) – Stronger, wider halo spread for larger letters or textured walls such as brick, stone, or concrete. Good for outdoor facades where signs are viewed from farther away.

- 1.25″–1.5″ (32–38 mm) – Used for oversized letters, dramatic halo effects, or when wall texture absorbs light. Often selected for hospitality, landmark signage, or statement branding.

We recommend the stand-off distance during production after reviewing your logo size, wall material, and desired halo effect.
